Johann Glass worked in Leipzig between 1900 and 1940. He established a first-rate reputation as a maker, as well as a restorer, for the symphony orchestra in the town. A fine example of his work, this violin, made at the turn of the 20th century, is perfect for the aspiring conservatory student and professional alike.
Offering power, clarity, and solid projection, this instrument still possesses the warmth and character one would expect from a German instrument of this time period. A two piece back of nicely flamed maple and spruce top of narrow-width grain stand out underneath a wonderful orange-red oil varnish.
