Tetsuo Matsuda completed his studies at the International Violinmaking School in Cremona Italy in 1981 before moving to Chicago and beginning his career at William Harris Lee in 1983. Matsuda has won silver medals at the Antonio Stradivari International Violin Makers Competition as well as gold medals at the Violin Society of America's International Competition.

A powerful, crisp tone, with quick response, this example of Matsuda's work is exemplary. A lightly flamed two piece maple back and pin straight spruce top with orange-brown over a lustrous golden ground.
